Dr Arshad Rather has got more than 8 years of experience working as a Consultant Physician in Geriatric and General Medicine at University College Hospital. He is the Head of the Department of Geriatric Medicine at UCLH. His postgraduate training was mainly in Northwest London at Imperial College Hospitals NHS Trust. He is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate clinical education and is also an honorary Clinical Associate Professor at UCL medical school heavily involved in teaching medical students.

His specialist interests are in General internal medicine, complex medical issues needing holistic care, perioperative medicine, orthogeriatrics, Parkinson’s disease, complex disease management, dementia, falls and bone health. He works closely with surgeons and other specialists at The London clinic hospital to optimize the medical care of inpatients.

His specialist clinic for Parkinson’s disease at university college hospital helps him manage complex multi-morbid Parkinson’s patients in a comprehensive and holistic way and also running a comprehensive geriatric and general medical clinic on Harley Street treating patients with complex diagnostic problems.

Dr Rather’s approach to professional excellence is simple. “I treat people as I would like members of my own family to be treated. I am approachable, friendly, and try to establish empathy early in a consultation. I believe in “getting it right the first time”. This means more than getting the diagnosis right.
