Private urgent care in London treats urgent, non-life-threatening conditions requiring same-day assessment: sprains, suspected fractures, cuts requiring closure, acute infections, high fever, severe headaches, chest symptoms, urinary symptoms, and dehydration. At LIPS Urgent Care Centre, Turbine Hall B, Battersea Power Station, every patient is assessed by a GMC-registered Consultant in Emergency Medicine — not a triage nurse or junior clinician. The clinic cannot assess heart attacks, strokes, overdoses, major trauma, or chest and abdominal pain in patients over 50; for those conditions, call 999 or attend your nearest NHS Emergency Department immediately.
LIPS Urgent Care Centre
Most of us know that "in-between" situation: you're worried, in pain, or unwell but it doesn't feel like a 999 emergency. You may not be able to get a GP appointment quickly, and you may not want to wait for hours in a busy A&E.

When A&E isn't the right fit
Outstanding care for serious, life-threatening emergencies. But if your problem is urgent (and not a 999 emergency), A&E can be difficult — especially when departments are very busy.
You may experience:
Hours of uncertainty before you're seen, with no way to plan.
No guarantee of when or by whom you will be assessed.
Walk-in only, with no ability to book or plan your day.
A&E is designed to prioritise urgent emergencies and patient flow — follow-up planning is limited.
Private GP vs Private Urgent Care
If you need help with a routine health problem or ongoing care, a private GP is usually the best place to start. Private GPs can help with health checks, prescriptions, referrals, medication reviews, and longer-term health concerns.
If you have a sudden illness or injury that needs urgent attention today, private urgent care may be more suitable. This can include cuts, infections, possible fractures, dehydration, chest symptoms, or severe headaches that need quick assessment.

- →Medication reviews
- →Longer-term health concerns

FAQs
No. Private urgent care and A&E serve different patient needs. A&E is a high-volume NHS service for life-threatening emergencies, with unpredictable wait times and no advance booking. Private urgent care at LIPS Healthcare, Battersea Power Station, is a CQC-regulated clinic where you are seen by a named GMC-registered Consultant in Emergency Medicine, with bookable appointment slots so you can plan your visit. For patients from Chelsea, Clapham, Vauxhall, Pimlico, Wandsworth, and Nine Elms who need urgent same-day assessment without a 999-level emergency, private urgent care in London is the appropriate and faster pathway.
Yes, in most cases. LIPS Urgent Care Centre operates on a bookable appointment model, so you are seen at your confirmed time rather than triaged into an unpredictable queue. Walk-in patients are accepted at Turbine Hall B, Battersea Power Station, subject to availability, and typically wait significantly less than the average NHS A&E attendance time. For patients from Chelsea, Clapham, Vauxhall, Pimlico, Wandsworth, and Nine Elms via the Northern line, London Overground, or bus, the entire visit — assessment, investigation, and discharge — is usually completed within a single appointment.
Both options are available. LIPS Urgent Care Centre at Battersea Power Station accepts pre-booked appointments and walk-in patients on the same day. Book a confirmed slot at lips.org.uk/specialities/urgent-care-centre or attend in person at Turbine Hall B, first floor, without a prior appointment. Pre-booking is strongly recommended, particularly for paediatric patients, as identity and parental responsibility documentation must be verified on arrival.
The consultation fee at LIPS Urgent Care Centre is £200 on weekdays and £220 at weekends. This covers a full clinical assessment by a GMC-registered Consultant in Emergency Medicine, including observations, examination, management plan, discharge summary, and safety advice — with no hidden charges. Additional investigations such as blood tests, X-ray, or imaging are arranged where clinically appropriate and agreed with you before any cost is incurred. Receipts are provided for private medical or travel insurance reimbursement.
Yes. A fever that is high, persistent, or accompanied by symptoms such as difficulty breathing, severe headache, rash, or signs of infection is an appropriate reason to attend LIPS Urgent Care Centre at Battersea Power Station. A GMC-registered Consultant in Emergency Medicine will assess the underlying cause, arrange blood tests or other investigations where clinically indicated, and advise on treatment. Patients from Chelsea, Clapham, Vauxhall, Pimlico, Wandsworth, and Nine Elms can book same-day at lips.org.uk/specialities/urgent-care-centre or walk in. If a fever is accompanied by loss of consciousness or difficulty breathing, call 999 immediately.
Yes. LIPS Urgent Care Centre is a CQC-regulated private clinic treating paediatric patients accessible to families from Chelsea, Clapham, Vauxhall, Pimlico, Wandsworth, and Nine Elms via the Northern line to Battersea Power Station station. Walk-in paediatric patients must be aged five and above; younger children should attend the appropriate NHS paediatric pathway. All children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with proof of identity and parental responsibility, and pre-booking is strongly recommended.
LIPS Urgent Care Centre at Turbine Hall B, Battersea Power Station, is open Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Sunday 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Reachable from Chelsea, Clapham, Vauxhall, Pimlico, Wandsworth, and Nine Elms via the Northern line to Battersea Power Station station, London Overground, or bus. Telephone: +44 20 3870 9999.
A condition is urgent but not an emergency when it requires same-day senior clinical assessment but does not warrant calling 999 or attending an NHS Emergency Department. Examples include suspected fractures, deep cuts requiring closure, acute infections with fever, severe or sudden headaches, significant urinary symptoms, stable but uncomfortable breathing symptoms, and pain that cannot wait for a routine GP appointment. At LIPS Urgent Care Centre, Battersea Power Station, a GMC-registered Consultant in Emergency Medicine assesses exactly these presentations — conditions needing prompt expert review within hours, not days.
No referral is needed to access private urgent care in London at LIPS. Patients from Chelsea, Clapham, Vauxhall, Pimlico, Wandsworth, Nine Elms, and across London can book at lips.org.uk/specialities/urgent-care-centre or walk in to Turbine Hall B, Battersea Power Station, without a letter from any clinician. If further specialist care is required, the attending GMC-registered Consultant in Emergency Medicine will arrange an onward referral through LIPS Healthcare's network of 170-plus GMC-registered consultants across 30-plus clinical specialties — all at the same location.
