About Mr Gareth Chan
Biography
Mr Gareth Chan is a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Foot & Ankle Surgery and Complex Trauma.
Mr Chan graduated from UCL Medical School in 2014 and was appointed to his specialist training post as the top-scoring candidate in the country. He is internationally fellowship trained, having completed a travelling fellowship in keyhole ankle sports surgery at the National University Hospital of Singapore, the Surrey Foot & Ankle Fellowship at a national centre for hindfoot reconstruction under two past presidents of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, and a complex adult trauma fellowship at King's College Hospital, one of the United Kingdom's Level 1 Major Trauma Centres.
He offers a holistic approach to the full spectrum of foot and ankle disorders, from bunions and forefoot deformity to ankle arthritis and ankle replacement, ankle instability, Achilles and tendon problems, and sports injuries. He understands that the primary aim of treatment is to relieve pain and restore function, and works closely with a team of trusted physiotherapists, orthotists and allied health professionals to ensure his patients' care and recovery is optimised at every opportunity.
Mr Chan has a particular interest in the management of lower-limb fractures and soft-tissue injuries and aims to treat these promptly without the need for a hospital admission. Patients can be seen within 48 hours of injury, with imaging, definitive advice and, if needed, surgery arranged quickly. This avoids delays in starting rehabilitation and ensures a named consultant is responsible for their care throughout the journey to recovery.
He is recognised by all major UK insurers.
