Mr Fabian Wong

Mr Fabian Wong is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. He completed his medical degree at University College London in 2006 and underwent surgical training in the London Deanery. In 2010, he became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His early career included a Junior Clinical Fellowship at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust in 2013, followed by speciality training in orthopaedic surgery. Mr Wong advanced his academic and clinical expertise by earning two Master's degrees (MSc) in Trauma and Orthopaedics—from the University of Brighton in 2017 and the University of Warwick in 2018. He achieved Fellowship status (FRCS Tr&Orth) with the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2019 and gained General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Registration. To further refine his medical leadership and teaching skills, he completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee in 2022 and was selected for the prestigious British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Future Leaders Programme as a BASS Fellow. His dedication to complex spinal surgery culminated in the completion of three comprehensive subspecialty Spine Fellowships at leading tertiary centres: Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals, University Hospital of Wales (Cardiff), and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore). Mr Wong's clinical practice encompasses the assessment and treatment of patients with adult degenerative spinal conditions, including mechanical back pain, sciatica, and spinal stenosis. In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Wong serves as the Departmental Lead for Trainee Education at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. His passion for medical education and mentoring earned him the GSTT Medical Education Foundation Consultant of the Year award in 2023/24. He actively contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education as a faculty member for the St Thomas' MRCS course and delivers regional spinal education. An active researcher, Mr Wong has authored over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and presented his work extensively at national and international conferences, including the Global Spine Congress, BASS, and BritSpine. His research spans spinal outcomes, robotic-assisted spinal surgery, cauda equina syndrome evaluation, and surgical safety audits. Throughout his career, Mr Wong has been committed to providing exceptional care in orthopaedics and spine surgery, integrating his extensive training and experience to deliver the highest standards of patient care.
