Mr Culpan performed hip surgery on my left hip previously and when I started having difficulty walking and pain around the right hip I had no hesitation in contacting him to get his opinion of what was happening to me. The initial x ray only illustrated a minor problem and although I was suffering he did suggest I could wait to have surgery. An honest opinion, not rushing anyone into surgery is something to be valued. His attitude as before is to put patients’ interests first. A CT scan revealed more arthritis and explained why walking was becoming a painful process for me. Again all options and recovery process explained to me and I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Culpan to anyone suffering. Surgery is being organised for me.

My operation was a knee arthroscopy. Mr Culpan had suggested at our first meeting that this would probably be necessary. He used an anatomical model to show how my knee had started to cause me to limp and ordered an MRI scan for confirmation. His explanations were clear, with time for questions and further discussion as necessary. The surgery he subsequently performed has been successful, enabling me able to return to the long walks that I have always enjoyed.

I'd been suffering from what i thought was back pain for a very long time. It was Paul Culpan who figured out it was my hip. I am now free of any pain and haven't taken a pain killer for two weeks!

As far as I am concerned the hip replacement operation has been a complete success. I chose Mr. Culpan because, when I first went to see him, he explained the operation in fine detail and unlike the other consultant I considered using he insisted upon a CT scan and seemed to me to take more trouble over the precise replacement hip joint. Furthermore, he agreed to carry out the operation under a spinal anaesthetic rather than a general anaesthetic which was very much what I wanted. After the operation Mr. Culpan took the trouble to ensure that I knew what was going on which gave me great confidence.

Mr Culpan was focused on getting the best outcome for my situation. He explained the procedure clearly and in layman terms so I understood at each stage what was going to happen. He made me feel comfortable and confident about the surgery and listened to any worries I had. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him, especially if you’re situation is more complex.

Mr. Culpan explained to me exactly what was going to happen which I found reassuring. He also confirmed that I really did need my hip to be replaced as it was so arthritic and in danger of affecting other joints. He persuaded me to stay in hospital for an extra couple of days which I was happy to do as he explained his reasoning which made complete sense to me.

Mr Culpan addressed my issues under a previous orthopaedic consultant in a professional manner. Professionally and ethically he did not comment on the previous diagnosis. He offered a solution which was clear. Through my journey, which has been difficult and complicated. Mr Culpan and his team have provided me with transparent solution which has been achieved and I can only thank him for his ability to medically resolve my previous misdiagnosis and to provide me with a successful outcome. I would certainly recommend Paul to any 3rd party and cannot thank him enough.

Mr Culpan is a very competent and genuine consultant who I would recommend to anyone. His attention to detail and his interest in you as a patient is exemplary. The most important thing for me as a patient is having trust in your consultant and knowing he will give the best treatment you could ask for. Mr. Culpan ticks all the boxes and thanks to him my recovery from a really difficult procedure could not have turned out so successful. It is no surprise he is highly thought of.

4 years ago I discovered that my Sacrum and pubic bone were non union breaks from an accident 9 months before. I was referred to Mr Calpen who calmly explained that the longer they were left the less likely they were to ever mend! He operated 2 weeks later and successfully rejoined these bones so that I now live my life to the full. He was immensely reassuring, attentive and confidence giving thoughout the process

Before I had my hip replaced I could walk about 3 or 4 steps only. I found the operation life transforming and I can now walk for miles with no difficulty at all. Mr Culpan described in detail what hé would do during the operation for which he took measurements and other details, which was very impressive. After the operation I made a rapid recovery greatly helped by the physiotherapy at the hospital, again which was excellent. I have no hesitation at all in recommending Mr Culpan to those with hip problems; his standards and care are of the highest quality and I was fortunate that he did my new hip.

From my first appointment, I was provided with a very detailed approach to my hip problem and the solutions to the pain I was in. Everything was approached with a comprehensive understanding and methodical diagnosis with x-rays and scans and the type of operation that would be performed and that was right for me. I was then left to make the decision in my own time and when I was ready. Despite the anxiety and apprehension of a major operation, I felt in very safe hands and despite a few complications along the way, always felt I was being given the right advice and that I was in the safest of hands. Not all operations are straight forward and there are always risks but it is important to always feel that no matter what the challenges are, you are being looked after by a team who will be able to resolve any problem and take great care of you. I feel lucky to have had Mr Culpan and his team look after me and to know that whenever I had a question or concern I had access to Mr Culpan to explain everything to me in a calm, considered and highly experienced manner.
