Foot and ankle surgery by internationally-renowned surgeons

Mr Francesc Malagelada and Mr Michael Oddy lead the Foot and Ankle Surgery team at London International Patient Services.

In addition to his work at LIPS, Mr Malagelada is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon working at the Royal London Hospital, the UK’s biggest major trauma centre. He offers outstanding care to severely injured patients as well as specialist foot and ankle surgery.

A highly-qualified foot and ankle surgeon, Mr Malagelada completed advanced orthopaedic and fellowship training. He has a PhD for research into minimally-invasive surgery of the foot and has been awarded the respected ESSKA-AFAS fellowship to conduct research by the Ankle and Foot section of the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy.

Mr Malagelada is actively involved in research and presents at international meetings. He has published extensively in many respected international journals and orthopaedic textbooks. He trains the doctors and surgeons of the future, holding an honorary senior clinical lecturer post at Queen Mary University of London and running the accredited foot and ankle fellowship at the Royal London Hospital.

Mr Oddy is a consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics at University College London Hospital he manages general trauma and is highly proficient in the specialist management of foot and ankle injuries, deformities, bunion and toe problems and nerve disorders. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.

Mr Oddy is an Honorary Associate Professor in the UCL Division of Surgery. He is actively involved in both education and research. He lectures on the UCL MSc in Sports, Exercise and Health and is a member of the Institute of Sports, Exercise and Health National Achilles Tendinopathy Centre team.

Mr Oddy has an interest in neurological foot problems and is the orthopaedic lead for the diabetic foot service at UCLH. An expert in the treatment of sporting injuries and trauma, he was one of the six specialist foot and ankle surgeons serving the London 2012 Olympics.
