Synopsis
Mr Guy Webster was educated at Marlborough College and the University of Birmingham Medical School.
After junior jobs in Birmingham Teaching hospitals including the trauma unit of the famous Birmingham Accident Hospital he was a peri fellowship surgical registrar in Birmingham and the first Calman Specialist Registrar appointed to the West Midlands Urological training scheme. General surgery training was in Worcester with Mr John Black (President of the Royal College of Surgeons ) and reconstructive surgery at the prestigious Plastic surgery dept. at St James’ hospital Leeds.
He was awarded a Fellowship in Brisbane , Australia. Laparoscopic training was in Paris , Liepzig and Denmark and da Vinci robotic training in Paris and Aalst , Belgium. During training he was awarded a number of awards, prizes and Fellowships. Following completion of UK Urology training he spent a year as a Lecturer at the University of Queensland in Brisbane and Fellow at the Princess Alexandra Hospital a large teaching hospital and quaternary referral centre. He learnt percutaneous renal surgery , radical prostatectomy and live donor and laparoscopic nephrectomy. He coordinated the care of patients in the dept. from Central, Northern, and Eastern Australia as well as Papua New Guinea for complex stone, trauma and cancer surgery treatments. This included liaison with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) for repatriation and remote clinical care.
