Synopsis
Dr Basil AlMahdi is a consultant of anaesthesia and pain medicine at The Whittington Health NHS Trust. His practice currently involves covering both Acute and Chronic pain management.
He has gained valuable experience in dealing with pain patients through his training and fellowships in Acute and Chronic Pain Medicine where he expanded his clinical practice in all fields of interventional and non-interventional pain medicine.
Along with his clinical practice, Dr Almahdi is constantly involved in teaching junior colleagues, medical students and nursing staff about anaesthesia and pain management during his daily practice in theatres as well as being an undergraduate tutor for medical students at The Whittington Hospital.
He has numerous publications and has lectured nationally and internationally in his subject. Dr Almahdi has many interests including managing chronic pain syndromes, neuropathic pain and palliative treatment for cancer pain.
As a bilingual doctor, he speaks Arabic fluently and takes pride in his holistic approach towards patient care, involving them in decisions for their treatment plan and empowering them through education on their condition.
History
Dr Basil Almahdi qualified as a medical doctor in 1997. He completed his specialist training in London, and gained a higher degree in Pain Management at University College Hospital as a Fellow in pain medicine at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square. He was a Locum Consultant at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore and The Pain Management Centre at University
